Aspects of psychodiagnostics and treatment of traumatised refugees

Traumatized refugees are studied with regard to various aspects and on the basis of newly developed or translated instruments.

For instance, the degree of somatisation (the tendency to experience and report physical ailments and complaints that cannot be explained through somatic findings) among these patients is investigated.

Working from clinical practice, the qualitative aspects of transcultural group therapy with traumatized refugees are studied as well. In addition, a clinical trial on treating nightmares using medication (prazosin) is conducted. The role of resilience, social support and coping during the treatment process is also empirically studied. (Ph.D. project of Hans Rohlof, psychiatrist, under supervision of dr. J.
