Dr. Ilse Raaijmakers (ARQ WWII programme)
Ilse Raaijmakers works for ARQ as a policy advisor in the WWII programme. She studied History, European Studies and German Language and Culture at Utrecht University, the University of Amsterdam and the University of Vienna.
In December 2014 Ilse was awarded a PhD in History at Maastricht University for her thesis on the Dutch national memory culture of WWII in the context of the national commemoration days, the 4th and 5th of May. Her expertise is in the field of memory culture, recognition for war victims, and the ways the Netherlands and Europe have come to terms with WWII.
