Ruud Jongedijk, MD, is a psychiatrist / psychotherapist and the medical director of ARQ Centrum ’45 and the Psychotrauma Diagnostic Centre PDC, partners within the ARQ National Psychotrauma Centre, the Netherlands.
These three organisations are highly specialised centres for diagnostics and treatment of patients with complex trauma complaints. Knowledge about trauma related topics is developed by scientific research and innovation and is disseminated by training and educational programs.
Ruud is affiliated as a member of vivo International (Germany), is the chair of the working group on mental health issues at GGZ Nederland and is teacher and trainer at the education institute RINO Amsterdam and at ARQ Academy.
His main area of interest in research is the diagnostics and treatment approaches for the psychological consequences of complex trauma, especially diagnostic models.
From 2007 on he implemented and developed Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET) in the Netherlands, in collaboration with the NET-group in Germany (vivo / University of Konstanz). He is developing and conducting certified NET-trainings and gives supervision to trauma therapists all over the Netherlands. He gives lectures and workshops on NET and publishes about NET.
In 2014 he published the first Dutch book about NET, “Levensverhalen en psychotrauma. Narratieve Exposure Therapie in theorie en praktijk” (“Life stories and Psychotrauma. Narrative Exposure Therapy in Theory and Practice”; Boom Editors, Amsterdam). An English version of the book will be published in 2016.
